These Terms of Use ("Terms") form an agreement between you and Kodeora ("we", "us", "our") governing your use of the Lumen macOS application ("Lumen" or the "Service"). By installing, opening, or using Lumen, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What Lumen is
Lumen is a macOS application that lets you chat with the Anthropic Claude family of models (Sonnet 4.5, Opus 4.5, Haiku 4.5), upload files for analysis, browse the web inside the app, and run pre-built AI workflows. Lumen is an interface to a third-party AI service; it does not itself host any AI model and does not generate responses on its own.

You may use Lumen if:
- You are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction);
- You have authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of yourself or your organization;
- Your use of the app does not violate any applicable laws or third-party rights.
4. Your account, your key
Lumen doesn't require an account on our servers. The app works in two modes:
- BYOK (bring your own key). Paste your Anthropic API key in Settings → API Key. The key is stored in your macOS Keychain. You are responsible for keeping it secret and for any usage charges Anthropic bills to your account.
- Subscription. Purchase a managed plan from inside the app. The app routes your chats through a managed key we hold; you do not need an Anthropic account.
5. Subscriptions and refunds
Subscription plans (annual and lifetime) and the 7-day free trial are sold and managed through the Apple App Store via Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple charges your Apple ID at the start of each subscription period. Refund requests are processed by Apple under their standard policy (reportaproblem.apple.com); we do not directly issue refunds for App Store purchases.
Auto-renewal can be turned off at any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancelling does not refund the current billing period; you retain access until the end of the period you've paid for.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Lumen to:
- Generate or distribute content that violates Anthropic's Acceptable Use Policy — this includes (but is not limited to) sexual content involving minors, instructions for weapons designed to cause mass casualties, malicious code, or content intended to defraud or harass others;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app (except where permitted by law);
- Circumvent rate limits or subscription gates;
- Resell or sublicense access to the managed-key proxy;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system used to deliver Lumen;
- Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
Violations may result in suspension of your subscription and access to managed-key features. BYOK users are subject to Anthropic's own enforcement on their API key.
7. AI output disclaimer
Claude's responses are generated by a probabilistic AI model and may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations. Do not rely on Lumen output for legal, financial, medical, or other consequential decisions without independent verification. You are responsible for reviewing, validating, and editing any AI-generated content before acting on it or sharing it.
8. Intellectual property
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Kodeora grants you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Lumen on Apple-branded hardware that you own or control. All rights in the app, its design, source code, and assets remain with Kodeora.
You own the content you input. By submitting a message you grant us the limited right to transmit it to Anthropic for processing on your behalf.

Lumen integrates with the following third parties, each governed by their own terms:
- Anthropic API — processes your prompts and generates responses. Anthropic Commercial Terms.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit — subscriptions and IAP billing.
- RevenueCat — entitlement management.
- Vercel — hosts this website and the optional managed-key proxy.
10. Disclaimers
ANTHROCHAT IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KODEORA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR PURPOSES.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, KODEORA'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR ANTHROCHAT IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50). KODEORA WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Kodeora and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any law or third-party right, or (c) content you submit to or generate using the Service.
13. Termination
You may stop using Lumen and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to managed-key features if you breach these Terms. Termination does not affect rights and obligations accrued before termination.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, surfaced in-app. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. If you reside in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you retain the mandatory consumer protections of your jurisdiction.
